The Anishinaabemowin Program, a part of the GTB Education Department, is located at our Education Department on 3 Mile Road in Traverse City and also at the Youth Building in Peshawbestown, MI. The program staff includes:

The Grand Traverse Band Anishinaabemowin's Mission is for Tribal Members to once again be speakers of the Language, and that some will become fluent. In our effort to pass the language on to others we will offer mentorships to those committed to learning the Language and also to those who would like to learn how to teach our language. We will provide the opportunity for all people to attend Anishinaabemowin Language classes and will preserve the Language through oral (video) and written lessons. Most importantly we, as Anishinaabek, must be committed towards learning and using our Native Language. Our future generations are counting on us to pass this on to them.
